Vamos a La Paz — Privacy Policy

Who we are

Vamos a La Paz (vamosalapaz.com) is operated by Peter Jostrom, a Persona Física based in La Paz, Baja California Sur, Mexico, with an address for notices at Topete 3040 y Legaspy, Barrio El Manglito, 23060 La Paz, B.C.S. You can reach us at info@vamosalapaz.com.

Vamos a La Paz is a local directory of tours and boat charters in La Paz. Depending on the listing, you either book directly with the operator through its own booking system, or we take the booking ourselves on behalf of an operator or private owner. Either way, we are not the operator running your trip. See "How bookings and payments work" below for what that means for your data.

How bookings and payments work

Booking with an operator. When a listing uses the operator's own booking system (for example, a FareHarbor or Bókun booking widget), your booking and any payment information are collected and processed by that platform under its own privacy policy, not this one.

Booking through Vamos a La Paz. For some listings we take the booking and the deposit ourselves on behalf of an operator or private owner; the rest is usually paid to them directly on the day of the trip. In that case we receive your booking details (such as your name, contact information, trip date, number of guests and any notes you add) and share what's needed to run your trip with the operator or owner and crew. Once your deposit is paid, we give the owner or captain your name and WhatsApp number, and give you theirs, so you can coordinate the day of the trip directly; they may only use your details for your trip. You can pay the deposit through a secure payment link (by card via Stripe, or via Mercado Pago), by bank transfer, or in cash. Online payments are processed by Stripe or Mercado Pago under their own privacy policies; we don't see or store your full card details. For transfers and cash payments, we keep a record of the payment. We also use these payment pages to collect some payments for Good Medicine La Paz Charters, which is run by the same owner as Vamos a La Paz.

If you contact an operator directly (for example, via a WhatsApp link on their page), that conversation happens on WhatsApp and is subject to WhatsApp's own privacy practices as well as the operator's.

Information we collect

Information you give us. If you message us via WhatsApp or fill out a form on the site, we receive whatever you share — typically your name, email address, phone number, what you're interested in, your preferred date, number of guests, and the content of your message.

Operators and partners. If you apply to list your business or use our partner portal, we also collect the details you provide — such as your business name, contact name, email, phone or WhatsApp number, website and social media, the experiences you offer, and permit information — along with the listing content and photos you submit. We use this to review applications, manage your listings, and contact you about your partnership.

Information collected automatically. Like most websites, we automatically collect some technical information when you visit: your IP address (used to approximate general location, e.g. country or city), browser and device type, pages viewed, how long you spent on them, and the site or ad that referred you.

Cookies and similar technologies. We use cookies and comparable tools for:

We also track certain on-site actions as events — for example, when you click a "Message us on WhatsApp" link — so we can understand which pages and activities are driving inquiries. This is managed through Google Tag Manager.

These cookies and tracking tags load automatically when you visit the site — we do not currently offer an on-site banner to accept, reject, or customize them before they run. If you'd prefer not to be tracked, you can block or clear cookies at any time through your browser's own privacy settings, or use your browser's or device's ad-tracking controls to limit Google Ads and Meta Pixel tracking.

How we use this information

We use the information above to:

Primary and secondary purposes. Responding to inquiries, arranging bookings and payments, managing partner listings and meeting our legal obligations are needed to provide the service you ask for (primary purposes). Analytics and advertising measurement are secondary purposes: they aren't needed to provide the service, and you can object to them at any time using the browser and device controls described above, or by emailing info@vamosalapaz.com with the subject "Secondary purposes". Objecting won't affect your inquiries or bookings.
